America Outdoors outfitters provide family trips, fishing, horseback riding trips, hunting and dude ranch lodging in the beautiful Custer National Forest!
The Custer is the most ecologically diverse forest in the Northern Region, reaching from the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness near Red Lodge, Montana to the grasslands of South Dakota. The forest encompasses about 1.3 million acres, with 345,599 acres that are Designated Wilderness. The Custer is well known for lake and stream fishing, and provides habitat for mountain goats, big horn sheep, elk, muley and white-tail deer, black bear, cougar, and moose.
Great things await the visitor to Custer National Forest. The Custer has three Ranger Districts, encompassing 1.2 million acres of pristine subalpine wilderness, prime game habitat, and some of the richest heritage sites in the nation.
Public lands support habitat for mountain goats, grizzly bear, black bear, elk, deer, grouse, wild turkey, and a host of other fascinating species. As well, the Custer provides a variety of "habitats" for recreationalists, with an extensive array of campground sites, dispersed camping areas and hiking trails.
